Ace Translator is a multi-language machine translator. It supports well over thirty language pairs, including Chinese (simplified and traditional), Japanese, Korean, Russian and Hebrew. The application interface is very basic, but functional. It consists of two text fields, one for the source language and the other for the target language. You write something in the first field and select a target language from the drop-down menu, and hit translate. The application will then look for an appropriate translation.
Machine translation has improved significantly over the years and, as a translator, it sometimes impresses me. Ace Translator was surprisingly good in translating even some complex sentences with good accuracy. Actually, I had to trick the application into giving me erroneous translations in the few languages that I know.
Ace Translator can translate the text that you type or paste into the translation field, or it can open text or HTML files and insert the text automatically. It has no support for Microsoft Office documents, but you can always copy and paste texts.
All in all, Ace Translator is a very good machine translator. It should be enough to translate basic sentences or it can be used to grasp the meaning of some sentences of paragraphs. For sensitive material, a well-trained translator is still the way to go.
